Circa 1840s Empire Revival Chest of Drawers

A powerful example of early American craftsmanship, this cherrywood dresser embodies the bold, architectural lines of the Empire Revival period—complete with turned columns, scroll gallery, and original wooden knobs.

This piece belonged to a New York family for generations, with documents found in its drawers including a U.S. Navy discharge certificate from the 1865. A rare and moving connection to American history—this isn’t just furniture, it’s a story.

Dimensions:

W 47” × D 20.5” × H 55”

Key features:

-Solid cherry construction

-Four large, graduated drawers, 3 small drawers

-Original wood knobs and period joinery

-Empire-style half columns with carved capitals

-Excellent structural condition, historically preserved

-This dresser is both a heirloom and a statement—an anchor for a curated interior with depth and meaning.
